Poster: Efficacy and tolerance of a multifocal natural formulation compared to a regimen containing 4% hydroquinone and 0.05% tretinoin on facial dyschromia
Efficacy and tolerance of a multifocal natural formulation compared to a regiment containing 4% hydroquinone and 0.05% tretinoin on facial dyschromia
Statement
- MNF (Multifunctional Natural Formulation) regimen + MNF regimen-mask are as effective for treating facial dyschromia when comparing with a commercial formulation (CR) combining 4% hydroquinone with 0.05% tretinoin.
- In contrast to the CR which caused irritation (erythema, peeling, dryness, dry/tightness feeling) this was very well tolerated.
Methods
- treatment was done over 12 weeks
- three regimens were compared:
- cell 1 single component MNF (Multifunctional Natural Formulation) + foaming cleanser + facial lotion + ultrashield lotion + sunscreen SPF50
- cell 2: two components MNF (herbal based depigmenting regimen) + gentle foaming cleanser + facial lotion + ultrashield lotion + active treatment mask + sunscreen SPF 50
- cell 3 commercial regimen (CR) combining 4% hydroquinone and 0.05 tretinoin + gentle foaming cleanser + toner + sunscreen SPF 32.
Conclusion of the poster
- During the 6 week regression period, facial dyschromia symptoms significantly worsened for all treatment cells except 1 and 3, MNF and CR regimen.
Comments
- There is no mention of the active ingredient and no information on what the mask contains
- There is no definition of what facial dyschromia relates to (it does mention melasma somwhere in the poster, but no mention of the other facial dyschromias)
- Only three cells are compared, when they mention that all treatments worsened except two of them, the statement is a bit strong.
