Mesothelioma and the Skin: An Introduction (For Professionals)
- Mesothelioma is one of the most severe cancers which develops from the mesothelial lining which wraps some organs:
- the lungs (more precisely the pleura)
- the heart (pericardium)
- the abdominal cavity (peritoneum)
- the testicles (tunica vaginalis)…
- It is an occupational related condition (for the lungs) due to the exposure to asbestos (and erionite). Although there is not enough evidence at this time for a causal relation ship between peritoneal mesothelioma and asbestos exposure, doubts exist and mesotheliomas in general are a ground for lawsuits in developed nations, particularly in the United States and Europe.
- Numerous signs and symptoms exist pertaining to the localisation of the disease. In our study we have tried to find in what way mesotheliomas and the skin are related.
