Cysteamine Cream : Proof of Efficacy
- Cysteamine Hydrochloride is a thiolic molecule which is naturally produced in the human body.
- The skin whitening effect of Cysteamine Hydrochloride was first discovered around 50 years ago.
- Data is available which indicates that Cysteamine Hydrochloride and of of its derivatives (methyl mercaptoethylamine hydrochloride) are more powerful than hydroquinone.
- The mechanism of action of Cysteamine Hydrochloride is not yet fully understood:
- The molecule may act as an inhibitor of peroxidase and tyrosinase and at the same time quench dopaquinone and metal ions essential for the synthesis of pigment (melanin).
- The property of Cysteamine Hydrochloride to reduce disulfur bonds indicates that this agent might act to increase the intracellular glutathione and perhaps cysteine levels.
- Cysteamine Hydrochloride has potent antioxidant properties.
